Carl Thomsen, CAPS (Certified Aging in Place Specialist), President
Carl is a licensed contractor, Certified Aging in Place Specialist, and Certified RRP Specialist, and has been fixing houses for over 40 years. He also spent 35 of those years as a professional dancer and choreographer. As a full-time contractor since 2004, he uses his directing and choreographic skills more than ever! Since starting Thomsen Construction Inc. he has focused his attention on building a sustainable company that serves North Shore residents with high quality renovations and remodeling. His career in theater taught him to return calls, show up on time, do what you say you’ll do, and make sure your audience is happy in the end. This has stood him in good stead as a business owner and employer.
Carl has 3 sons, two of whom are carpenters. In his spare time, Carl enjoys Qigong, meditating, dancing, skiing, hiking, camping, and playing piano.
Loren French, CAPS, Project Manager
Loren has been with the Thomsen Construction since its founding. With over 38 years of building experience, Loren has achieved success in many ways from simple renovations to highly complex projects. After college, Loren was able to incorporate his education in Art, Design & Engineering into his second love of building. “Homes are like sculptures we live in” is a common thread in his vision to make customers’ projects look correct and function even better. His work has been in several magazines including Fine Homebuilding, Design New England, and The Boston Globe magazine. Loren is a Certified Remodeler (NARI), Certified Aging in Place & Universal Design Specialist and an Age Safe Specifier. He is also our CAD project design specialist at Thomsen Construction.
Loren enjoys spending off hours with his wife of 35 years visiting museums, walks on the beach and traveling. Their two daughters bring them joy and excitement as each begins her own career. Loren also enjoys boating, skiing, and restoring antique cars as a hobby.
Christopher Roccio, CAPS, Project Manager
Over 25 years in the building trade, “Rocco” is a master carpenter, project manager, and Certified Aging in Place Specialist. He is experienced in millwork and all aspects of house building finish carpentry. He is a former Marine, a proud veteran, and a VA friendly builder. His hobbies include hunting, fishing, trap shooting and spending time outdoors.
Rocco is the father of two beautiful daughters. He enjoys spending time with friends and family. He enjoys the uniqueness each building project presents and find success in knowing there is no problem that doesn’t have a solution.
Janice Lloyd, CAPS, Aging in Place Director
Janice comes to Thomsen Construction from north of the border with vast experience in Business Management and in the Health and Wellness community. In her earlier entrepreneur days, it was written, “Janice is one of the most promising entrepreneurs of the North Shore” and she was one of the first female partners in the venture capital field based in California. She held the position of Development Asset Coordinator for Clipper Windpower Inc. and in this role she assisted in bringing a 70-megawatt wind farm in Western Maryland through construction completion and assisted in the development of other wind projects in several other states. In her positions both professionally and personally she has become adept in handling many moving parts. Amongst her proudest accomplishments, she places raising her four grown children as number one. She also loves and enjoys her three young grandchildren and is happiest spending time with them. Outside of work, Janice enjoys, hiking, kayaking, camping, reading and dinner and a movie with friends.
Scott Claussen, Financial Manager
A native of Iowa, Scott came to New England from Chicago with his family a few years ago. Scott combines formal training in business (MBA) and human resources (SPHR) with experience working for a variety of small employers in different industries. Scott is an avid sports fan and as the former owner of a boutique craft beer store, enjoys watching sports while enjoying a cold one.
Marylou Bassani, Office Manager
As Office Manager, Marylou wears many hats within the Thomsen organization. Often she is the first point of contact.
Marylou is responsible for greeting clients and vendors to supporting finance and accounts receivable. She is the key communication with our crew in the field when coding job and material costs and tracking hours.
Evenings and weekends you might find Marylou volunteering at the local theater or community concerts. She also spends time reading, crafting, and playing with her Caique parrot Bucky.
